Plumber Woodberry
Plumbing in Woodberry is shaped by the swamp: a high water table, slow stormwater and root-cracked earthenware sewers. Woodberry is next door to Thornton, and Thornton Plumbing Co looks after blocked sewers, tired tanks, gas lines and night emergencies here as well. Every quote is locked in before we lift a tool.
An old estate ringed by swamp. The housing is an original 1970s subdivision that opened with Woodberry Public School, mostly single-storey houses in brick veneer or weatherboard up on the ridge, and rural-residential blocks stretch out across the flats. The last census counted 1,104 dwellings here, 96.2 percent separate houses.
Wet ground shapes the work. The suburb sits inside the Woodberry Swamp floodplain, and the water table stays high all year. That keeps underfloor spaces damp, makes stormwater soakage slow and works older septic systems hard on the rural blocks out towards the Hunter River.
Tree roots find the old lines. Established trees along the 1970s and 80s streets push roots into old clay and earthenware pipes. Jetting cuts them out, and filming the line afterwards shows whether the pipe will hold.

The Work These Homes Call For
Each service has its own page:
Blocked drains
Earthenware sewers and wet-ground stormwater lines, with drain jetting, pipe relining and tree root removal for root-hit runs
Gas fitting
Appliance installation and gas leak detection for cooktops, heaters and BBQs
Emergency plumber
Yard pits overflowing in a big storm, or a sink hose that splits at night
Storm season. Heavy rain overloads yard drains on the flat ground, and when the Hunter River rises, water sits in pits and downpipes with nowhere to go. Stormwater drain clearing covers that work.

When We're Not the Right Call
A retaining wall or fence line shifted by wet ground is a builder's job, and road drains and kerb inlets are Maitland council's. Old septic systems on the rural blocks sometimes need a liquid waste contractor to pump them out before we can work on the pipes.
Woodberry Questions, Answered
Do you clear the old earthenware sewer pipes in Woodberry homes?
Yes. Plenty of homes from the original subdivision still run earthenware sewer lines, which crack and let roots in at the joints. We clear it and film it, and the footage shows whether it needs relining or replacement.
Can you still get here when the floodplain crossings close?
Usually. When floodwater cuts off road access to Millers Forest and Tarro, the houses up on the ridge can still be reached. Rural blocks out on the flats may have to wait for the water to drop.
